The Beta Lambda Psi Chapter of Northern Marianas College\u2019s Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society inducted 74 new members on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022. (NMC)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n

Seventy-four students from Northern Marianas College pledged to distinguish themselves through academic excellence by contributing to the community and the Commonwealth through various community service and leadership activities as new members and officers of the Beta Lambda Psi Chapter of Phi Theta Kappa or PTK International Honor Society.<\/p>\n

The new members of the PTK Honor Society were inducted on Friday, Oct. 21, 2022, at the American Memorial Park Museum Theater.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In order to qualify for membership in Phi Theta Kappa, students must distinguish themselves by maintaining a 3.5 cumulative grade point average, in addition to serving and contributing to the community through various community service and leadership activities.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe would like to applaud and recognize our newly-inducted members and officers for their commitment to academic excellence,\u201d PTK adviser Kaelani Demapan said. \u201cWe look forward to recognizing more and more scholars in the years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

The PTK honor society also inducted its new officers: Anushi Joshi (president), Vincent Fajardo (vice president), Maxine Rabago (treasurer), MaryJo Camacho (recording secretary and public relations secretary), and Ainah Chargualaf (membership secretary).\u00a0<\/p>\n

In her closing remarks at the induction ceremony, incoming Joshi told her fellow Kappans that the Phi Theta Kappa honor society recognizes innovation and resiliency shown as students pursue their academics and community service.\u00a0<\/p>\n

\u201cYou all are here today, because we have recognized your hard work and achievements,\u201d Joshi said. \u201cBeing inducted into Phi Theta Kappa Honor society is a milestone, and we are proud of all of you.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n

NMC president Galvin Deleon Guerrero, Ed.D., said that the college is proud of the new inductees. \u201cCongratulations to all the new inductees,\u201d he said. \u201cI look forward to hearing more about each of the inductees\u2019 successes and achievements in the years to come.\u201d<\/p>\n

Established by Missouri two-year college presidents in 1918, the PTK Honor Society serves to recognize and encourage the academic achievement of two-year college students and provide opportunities for individual growth and development through honors, leadership, and service programming.<\/p>\n

Phi Theta Kappa has grown to over 1,200 chapters on college campuses in all 50 of the United States, plus Canada, Germany, Peru, the United Arab Emirates, the Republic of the Marshall Islands, the Republic of Palau, the Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, and the CNMI.\u00a0More than 3 million students have been inducted since 1918, and approximately 135,000 students are inducted each year, making it the oldest, largest and most prestigious honor society in higher education.\u00a0(NMC)<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
