{"id":378517,"date":"2022-10-27T06:01:17","date_gmt":"2022-10-26T20:01:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=378517"},"modified":"2022-10-27T06:01:17","modified_gmt":"2022-10-26T20:01:17","slug":"free-tennis-lessons-return-at-amp","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/free-tennis-lessons-return-at-amp\/","title":{"rendered":"Free tennis lessons return at AMP"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_378473\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-378473\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Tennis-pix-Miyawakiwb.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/10\/Tennis-pix-Miyawakiwb.jpg\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-378473\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Miyawaki<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Malika Miyawaki and her tennis buddies are restarting free tennis lessons beginning this Saturday, Oct. 29, at the American Memorial Park tennis courts.<\/p>\n<p>The tennis clinics are open for children who have never played tennis and for those under 12 who were in the first and second classes of CNMI national coach Jeff Race\u2019s Aces Tennis Academy.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to do this because there has been a lack of opportunities to learn tennis on Saipan due to limited court availability. Therefore, although I can\u2019t physically be there to run the free tennis clinic, some amazing high school students have volunteered to coach!\u201d said Miyawaki in a post on social media.<\/p>\n<p>The schedule for first-time players is from 10am to 11am, while those in Race\u2019s first and second class is from 11am to 12pm.<\/p>\n<p>The Emory University students and QuestBridge Scholarship beneficiary added that the clinic has rackets to lend children who have never played tennis before.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>They also plan to give away a racket to participants who attend the free clinic a certain number of times. She said more details will be shared later.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The free tennis lessons will happen every Saturday at the AMP tennis courts except when there is a tennis tournament, a holiday, or bad weather.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cEveryone is welcome and I hope many kids can join because sports is a great way to meet new people and have fun, especially on a small island,\u201d said the Saipan International School alumnae.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cFeel free to message or email me if you have any questions!
