Marianas High School Lady Dolphins bounced back from their first game loss to win two games in a row with their recent conquest of Saipan Southern High School Lady Manta Rays in the 2022 IT&E Interscholastic Girls High School Basketball League last Wednesday night, 41-21, at the action-packed MHS Gymnasium.<\/p>\n

It was an even match in the first period as the girls took turns banking their shots, with Lady Dolphins\u2019 Destiny Pangelinan drawing first blood with a 3-pointer. Right after, Lady Manta Rays\u2019 Kathyryn Sablan replied with a two-point field goal.<\/p>\n

Then, Angellyn Roligat mirrored Pangelinan\u2019s 3-pointer, with an additional two points from Pangelinan to put the Dolphins in an early lead of 8-2.<\/p>\n

Pangelinan went on to score 4 more points for the team, with Roligat scoring 8 more. Teammates Marielle Lopez and Angelina George shot 6 apiece, while Rai Ramarui contributed 4, and Sha Aina Mendoza scored 3.<\/p>\n

Summer Manahane scored 9 points for the Lady Mantas, while Andrea Ramos and Yasmeen Younis shot 4 points each, and Lency Sagarino and Sablan shot 2 points each.<\/p>\n

MHS\u2019 first win came after they defeated Kagman High School last week, 32-18. This makes their record, 2-1.\u00a0<\/p>\n

In the first game of the night, Agape Christian School routed KHS, 37-30, for their first win.<\/p>\n

The Torchbearers controlled the court in a tight match against the Lady Ayuyus, ending the first period with just a 4-point lead. However, Eunice Xu\u2019s huge 21 points and 7 points in the last minutes of the game allowed the Torchbearers to scrape away with the win.<\/p>\n

Her teammates Lynn Zhao contributed 8 points, Ruth Zhang shot 6 points, and Elim Huang scored 2.<\/p>\n

The Lady Ayuyus\u2019 Elicia Cabrera scored 6 points, Kiana Camacho scored 18 points, Priscilla Tomokane scored 4 points, and Kaitani Tudela shot 2.<\/p>\n

KHS have yet to win with three losses.<\/p>\n

Lastly, Grace Christian Academy defeated Mount Carmel School, 26-17 for the Lady Eagles\u2019 third straight win.<\/p>\n

GCA\u2019s Soleil Lamar scored 14 points, with 2 points from free throws. Teammates Katriel Saures scored 10, and Susana Villagomez scored 2.<\/p>\n

MCS\u2019 Erin Frink was the leading scorer with 7 points, Sienna Muna scored 5, Kayannie Peter scored 3, and Vivica Kapileo scored 2.<\/p>\n

The Knights are at 2-1.<\/p>\n

The IT&E Interscholastic Girls High School Basketball League is being run by the Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation.<\/p>\n
