{"id":381243,"date":"2022-12-08T06:06:33","date_gmt":"2022-12-07T20:06:33","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=381243"},"modified":"2022-12-08T06:06:33","modified_gmt":"2022-12-07T20:06:33","slug":"opa-candidates-political-parties-must-submit-campaign-statement-of-account","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/opa-candidates-political-parties-must-submit-campaign-statement-of-account\/","title":{"rendered":"OPA: Candidates, political parties must submit campaign statement of account"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Office of the Public Auditor is reminding all election candidates and political parties that participated in this year\u2019s general elections that they are required by law to file a detailed \u201ccampaign statement of account.\u201d Filing of a \u201ccampaign statement of account\u201d is mandatory. Failure to do so means a penalty of $100 per day for each date the statement is late.<\/p>\n<p>This itemized financial statement, prepared with the advice and co-signature of the candidate\u2019s treasurer, must show the specific source(s), name(s) of contributor(s), and amount(s) of contributions and expenses.<\/p>\n<p>OPA is mandated by law to receive the filing of these statements. <\/p>\n<p>The law also requires that the statement be verified under oath by the candidate\/political party and the candidate\u2019s\/political party\u2019s treasurer. <\/p>\n<p>OPA said its office will provide free notary service to those who wish to avail themselves of this service.
