(CONTRIBUTED PHOTO)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The CNMI National Swimming Team unofficially broke nine national records during their week-long stint in the 2022 FINA World Championships in Melbourne.<\/p>\n<p>Isaiah Aleksenko unofficially broke four NMI records\u2014the 100m butterfly, 200m butterfly, 50m freestyle, and 50m backstroke.<\/p>\n<p>The 16-year-old Marianas High School student swam the 100m butterfly\u00a0 in 54.55 last Dec. 17\u00a0 to unofficially break the 1:00.07 set by David Palacios in the 2005 Pacific Mini Games in Palau on July 25, 2005.<\/p>\n<p>Aleksenko swam the 200m butterfly in 2:02.96 last Dec. 15 to unofficially reset the 2:15.09 recorded by Rezne Wong in the 2010 Micronesian Games in Palau on March 8, 2010.<\/p>\n<p>He swam the 50m freestyle\u00a0 23.31 last Dec. 16 to unofficially top Juhn Tenorio\u2019s\u00a0 23.97 that he swam in the FINA World Championships in Abu Dhabi in Dec. 18, 2021.<\/p>\n<p>Finally, Aleksenko finished the 50m backstroke in 25.84 to unofficially break the 25.91 Kensuke Kimura swam in the Mie Winter Meet in Aichi, Japan in Feb. 18, 2018.<\/p>\n<p>Jinnosuke Suzuki, meanwhile, unofficially eclipsed his own record in the 200m freestyle by timing in at 1:56.27 last Dec. 18. The previous record was 1:57.27 that Suzuki swam in the FINA World Championships in Abu Dhabi in Dec. 17, 2021<\/p>\n<p>Maria Batallones, for her part, unofficially obliterated Nina Mosley\u2019s record in the 50m breastroke when she swam a 34.58 last Dec. 17. The old record was 36.97 that Mosley set in the FINA World Championships in Shanghai, China on April 5, 2006.<\/p>\n<p>Batallones also unofficially reset the previous mark in the 100m breastroke after touching the tiles in a time of 1:18.08 last Dec. 14.
