{"id":382086,"date":"2022-12-22T06:02:11","date_gmt":"2022-12-21T20:02:11","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=382086"},"modified":"2022-12-22T06:02:11","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T20:02:11","slug":"agapes-annual-christmas-v-ball-tournament-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/agapes-annual-christmas-v-ball-tournament-returns\/","title":{"rendered":"Agape\u2019s Annual Christmas V-ball Tournament returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<figure id=\"attachment_382057\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-382057\" style=\"width: 600px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Agape-pixwb.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Agape-pixwb.jpg\" \/><\/a><figcaption id=\"caption-attachment-382057\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Asian Airline\u2019s Dylan Lee, left, attempts to block a spike from the Gentlemen\u2019s Association setter Allen Luo during their Agape Christmas Volleyball Tournament game Tuesday night at the Agape Gymnasium. \u00aaLEIGH GASES)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The Agape Christmas Volleyball Tournament returned on Saturday, Dec. 17, just in time for the holiday break, with games held at the Agape Gymnasium.<\/p>\n<p>The men\u2019s division started last Saturday, Dec. 17 from 8am to 6pm and will continue to play for two weeks every Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday nights from 6pm to 9pm, until the championship games on Friday, Dec. 30.<\/p>\n<p>The annual tournament, which is in its fourth edition, was absent for two years due to the COVID-19 pandemic, but is now back with five women\u2019s teams and eight men\u2019s teams vying for first place in their respective divisions.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The inaugural ACVT was held in December 2019 and drew a large number of teams for both the men\u2019s and women\u2019s division.<\/p>\n<p>Event coordinator En Yang Pang said that so far, \u201cthe tournament is going on great\u2026 I feel really thankful and excited about this opportunity to bring back the Agape Christmas Volleyball Tournament after two years of COVID because our volleyball community really needed this. We are a very grassroots community, so to be able to organize something for them is an honor.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt began as a dream that the CNMI will be able to elevate its level of volleyball,\u201d added Pang.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Teams in this tournament range from groups of friends to high school volleyball teams who are looking for some volleyball action during the break from school.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Pang, who has played volleyball since he was 14 years old, added that \u201cmaybe we will have even more tournaments for next year, more players, more teams, more participation.
