{"id":382103,"date":"2022-12-22T06:06:04","date_gmt":"2022-12-21T20:06:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=382103"},"modified":"2022-12-22T06:06:04","modified_gmt":"2022-12-21T20:06:04","slug":"3-sites-idd-for-solar-grid-farms","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/3-sites-idd-for-solar-grid-farms\/","title":{"rendered":"3 sites ID\u2019d for solar grid farms"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. has already identified three possible locations for solar power grid farms, with the one to be built on Saipan expected to occupy approximately 33 hectares of land and will include Battery Energy Storage Systems.<\/p>\n<p>As CUC continues to work on expanding its current renewable energy portfolio, it is also looking into setting up solar systems on Rota and Tinian.<\/p>\n<p>Based on a newly established Integrated Resource Plan, CUC is now working on the engineering design and preliminary development of a 20-megawatt photovoltaic utility-scale solar system.<\/p>\n<p>For Saipan, which only has one main baseload power plant, \u201cit\u2019s imperative that we don\u2019t affect that baseload supply,\u201d said CUC executive director Gary P. Camacho. \u201cThere are several different things that we are preparing for.
