A 23-year-old man accused of beating up the daughter of Department of Corrections Commissioner Ramon C. Mafnas has pleaded guilty in Superior Court and was slapped with a suspended sentence.<\/p>\n
James Anthony P. Webb signed a plea agreement with the government last week and pleaded guilty to the offense of assault and battery (domestic violence).<\/p>\n
Associate Judge David A. Wiseman sentenced Webb to a year in prison, all suspended. He was given credit for 15 days of time served. This means Webb will no longer serve a prison term. He, however, was placed on probation for one year, minus 15 days of time served.<\/p>\n
During the duration of his probation, Webb is prohibited from having any contact with the victim and the latter\u2019s parents.<\/p>\n
Webb is also required to submit to random drug testing and pay restitution to the victim and her parents for property damage and medical bill. He was required to pay a $25 assessment fee plus a probation fee.<\/p>\n
Assistant public defender Michael Sato served as counsel for Webb.<\/p>\n
According to the plea deal, Webb struck, beat, and wounded the victim and damaged the house\u2019s door and toolbox belonging to the victim\u2019s parents on Feb. 25, 2014, on Saipan.<\/p>\n
As part of the plea deal, assistant attorney general James McAllister dropped the remaining charges of disturbing the peace, criminal trespass, and criminal mischief.<\/p>\n
