{"id":383633,"date":"2023-01-19T06:06:48","date_gmt":"2023-01-18T20:06:48","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=383633"},"modified":"2023-01-19T06:06:48","modified_gmt":"2023-01-18T20:06:48","slug":"new-start-dates-for-medicare-part-b-coverage-in-2023","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/new-start-dates-for-medicare-part-b-coverage-in-2023\/","title":{"rendered":"New start dates for Medicare Part B coverage in 2023"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Changes are coming in 2023 for when Medicare Part B coverage starts. <\/p>\n<p>What is not changing:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 If you are eligible at age 65, your Initial Enrollment Period:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Begins three months before your 65th birthday.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Includes the month of your 65th birthday.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ends three months after your 65th birthday.<\/p>\n<p>If you are automatically enrolled in Medicare Part B or if you sign up during the first three months of your IEP, your coverage will start the month you\u2019re first eligible. If you sign up the month you turn 65, your coverage will start the first day of the following month. This won\u2019t change with the new rule. <\/p>\n<p>What is changing:<\/p>\n<p>Starting last Jan. 1, 2023, your Medicare Part B coverage starts the first day of the month after you sign up if you sign up during the last three months of your IEP.<\/p>\n<p>Before this change, if you signed up during the last three months of your IEP, your Medicare Part B coverage started two to three months after you enrolled.<\/p>\n<p>If you don\u2019t sign up for Medicare Part B during your IEP, you have another chance each year during the General Enrollment Period. The GEP lasts from Jan. 1 through March 31.
