Young missionaries from The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints helped plant endangered trees for the Guam National Wildlife Refuge at Ritidian Point last Jan. 14, 2023.<\/p>\n

Kawika Davis, an employee for the Guam National Wildlife Refuge at Ritidian Point, supervised the planting of the 25 endangered trees. He took the time to describe the type of trees that were being planted and also the need for them on the island.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe tree species is called Tabernaemontana rotensis. The hope of the Refuge is to help reduce these trees from being endangered,\u201d he explained.<\/p>\n

A strong downpour couldn\u2019t keep the service-oriented missionaries of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from helping with the planting of these trees. They were able to proceed with the planting, which was done fairly quickly, soon after the rain lessened. These trees are considered medium sized and will grow to between 26 and 33 feet tall.<\/p>\n
