It’s been over a week,” said a concerned motorist.

The motorist, a 26-year-old, stated that she had renewed her driver’s license over a week ago and she has yet to be told when it would be ready and it has become frustrating.

“If their system is down, I understand, but we need IDs like at the banks and it’s more convenient for me to carry around a license instead of a passport. We should at least know when we can expect them,” she said.

Meanwhile, the Department of Public Safety’s Bureau of Motor Vehicles confirmed over the weekend that its Real ID driver’s license system is undergoing maintenance.

DPS stated that while their system remains down, BMV will continue to issue temporary licenses.

This means that motorists applying for a Real ID or a non-Real ID driver’s license will be issued a temporary certificate, which will be valid for 15 days.
