{"id":385859,"date":"2023-02-22T06:06:05","date_gmt":"2023-02-21T20:06:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=385859"},"modified":"2023-02-22T06:06:05","modified_gmt":"2023-02-21T20:06:05","slug":"callout-presentations-for-14th-uog-regional-conference-on-island-sustainability-welcome","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/callout-presentations-for-14th-uog-regional-conference-on-island-sustainability-welcome\/","title":{"rendered":"Callout: Presentations for 14th\u00a0UOG Regional  Conference on Island Sustainability\u00a0welcome"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The upcoming 14th\u00a0University of Guam Regional Conference on Island Sustainability is open for presentation proposals.<\/p>\n<p>The conference is scheduled for\u00a0April\u00a011-15,\u00a02023,\u00a0at the Hyatt Regency Guam.\u00a0A pre-conference will take place on April\u00a010.<\/p>\n<p>Conference abstracts will be accepted\u00a0until\u00a05pm on Friday,\u00a0Feb. 24, 2023, Guam time.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The form is available at\u00a0https:\/\/www.uog.edu\/cis2023\/call-for-abstracts\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The conference will\u00a0convene\u00a0islanders and their allies to exchange ideas and launch a wave of sustainability over the next year.\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The theme\u00a0challenges islanders and their partners to think beyond limitations and scarcity and \u201cRediscover the Depths of Our Island Abundance.\u201d\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The annual conference offers a blend of\u00a0scholarship,\u00a0advocacy, and\u00a0action.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Diverse abstract submissions from academia, government agencies, non-profit organizations, teachers, students, and the general community are welcome.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>There are two categories for presentations:\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>1. Call for Research:\u00a0Abstracts of current or recent research findings should include a description of replicable methods that contribute to the understanding of island sustainability challenges.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>2. Call for Action:\u00a0Abstracts for presentations that will inspire sustainable action in our communities should be evidence-based solutions or plans that will contribute to solving the challenges of island sustainability. Case studies may be included. Please make sure to provide a statement in the abstract that suggests a post-conference implementation plan.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Conference tracks\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The\u00a02023 conference tracks align with\u00a0Categories of Action\u00a0developed by the Guam Green Growth Working Group to implement the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals in locally and culturally effective ways.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Overarching theme:\u00a0Rediscover the depths of our island abundance\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The conference aims to promote thinking about the resources the islands can explore.
