Sablan (D-MP) in his e-kilili newsletter over the weekend.<\/p>\n<p>Examples of federal assistance programs are Medicaid, Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), the Federal Pell Grant, and veterans\u2019 pension and survivors benefits.<\/p>\n<p>Sablan said these discounts are available through the Affordable Connectivity Program, which is administered by the Universal Service Administrative Company with oversight by the Federal Communications Commission.<\/p>\n<p>The Affordable Connectivity Program helps low-income households pay for internet service and connected devices like a laptop or tablet.<\/p>\n<p>Sablan said internet providers in the Marianas that are participating in the program include IT&amp;E, Docomo, U2 Connect Now, Tone Communication Services, Pacific Data Systems, and Dailytel.<\/p>\n<p>An eligible household could receive up to a $30\/month discount on internet service; up to a $75\/month discount if the household is on qualifying Tribal lands; a one-time discount of up to $100 for a laptop, tablet,  or desktop computer (with a co-payment of more than $10 but less than $50);  and a low cost service plan that may be fully covered through the Affordable Connectivity Program.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Low-income households and recipients of some federal assistance programs may qualify for a discount on&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":23,"featured_media":387213,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-387212","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/387212","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/23"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=387212"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/387212\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/387213"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=387212"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=387212"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=387212"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
