Flores has asked the Saipan and Northern Islands Legislative Delegation to allocate the needed amount to allow the Saipan Mayor&#8217;s Office to settle two judgments against it.<\/p>\n<p>Flores wrote to delegation chair Ramon A. Tebuteb last Feb. 2 saying that the judgments are still outstanding and no payments have been made in the last four years.<\/p>\n<p>These two judgments are in the amount of $26,316.94 to Guangdong Development Co., Ltd. and $18,794.57 to Kaylene C. Reyes. Both Guangdong and Reyes are represented by the Law Offices of S. Joshua Berger.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAs these judgments are still active and payments must be made, we respectfully urge the delegation to consider appropriating an amount to pay them,\u201d Flores said in his letter.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Flores welcomed the decision of the delegation to earmark $37,000 for the repair and maintenance of the heavy equipment owned by the Mayor&#8217;s Office.<\/p>\n<p>If passed, House Local Bill 17-68 will authorize the appropriation which Flores said \u201ccould not have come at a better time\u201d given the state of the heavy equipment at the Mayor&#8217;s Office, many of which need constant repair and maintenance.<\/p>\n<p>Flores told Tebuteb in the Feb. 2 letter that all of their equipment \u201care more than 10 years old, hand-me downs, or rebuilt from salvaged parts.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIn their condition, the appropriation of $37,000 should help us keep the old heavy equipment going until we decide it is time to put them out of commission for good,\u201d added Flores.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>By Clarissa David Reporter Mayor Donald G.
