(Contributed Photo)\n\n\t\t\t\t<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<br \/>\nThe CNMI Motheread\/Fatheread Literacy Program held a completion ceremony at the Garapan Elementary School on Monday, June 9. A total of 13 parents completed the eight-hour session over the course of a month and a half.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThey were proudly awarded with scholastic books, book bags, certificates, school supplies, gift certificates, and a most memorable learning experience wherein they developed valuable reading skills to pass on to their children and families,\u201d said Motheread\/Fatheread assistant coordinator Beth Demapan.<\/p>\n<p>Parents that completed the program were Wrene Alegre, Sandhya Gautam, Judith Tan, Liarpinia Pangelinan, Basonte Sarker, Mikuo Sarie, Valerio Mality, Precilla Arcega, Mei Rengiil, Jocelyn Asistores, MariaAnn Cabrera, Nani Sarker, and Loly Ledesma. <\/p>\n<p>Children from GES teacher Evangeline Espanola\u2019s Story Exploring class retold books from the Motheread\/Fatheread curricula, which included the following: Goldilocks and the Three Bears by James Marshall, The Three Billy Goats Gruff by Paul Galdrone, Corduroy by Don Freeman, Farmer Duck by Martin Waddell, and The Very Hungry Caterpillar by Eric Carle.<\/p>\n<p>GES\u2019 Margarita Sugaste\u2019s Story Exploring class from fourth to sixth grade did a moving and heartfelt read-aloud with a song from the book Love You Forever by Robert Munsch. <\/p>\n<p>Afterwards, 19 children who presented their parents with homemade crafts were awarded certificates and school supplies. They were Isaac Balbin, Tarsila Balbin, Josephine Balbin, Rakesh Sarker, Rastava Wenio, Johnlane Dela Cruz, Precious Denise Valerio, Ria Rengiil, Rina Rengiil, Lance Jacob Asistores, Jaceylene Rios, Joey Dean Aldan, Sylvia Sanchez, and L.J. Kaipat.<\/p>\n<p>GES principal Paulette Sablan and vice principal Liela Yumul were on hand to congratulate the families for taking part in this ceremony.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThank you parent trainer Celina Foreman, Story Exploring instructors Evangeline Espanola and Margarita Sugaste, volunteer Jether Espanola, and the Motheread team.
