(\u00a0LEIGH GASES)<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The CNMI Fishers Forum hosted by the\u00a0Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council at the Hibiscus Hall of the Crowne Plaza Resort Saipan on Monday drew over 100 participants throughout the night visiting the information tables and attending the presentations on bottomfish in CNMI waters.<\/p>\n<p>Present during the forum were Gov. Arnold I. Palacios, former representative Christina Sablan, representatives of government agencies, different organizations, young adults, fishermen, and others.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI think it\u2019s a good turnout. A lot of people wanted to come out and showcase some of the work that they do, whether it\u2019s in their office, or in their company, or in their association,\u201d said Michael Tenorio, who is the Fisheries Section supervisor at the Division of Fish and Wildlife, Department of Lands and Natural Resources.\u00a0\u201cIt\u2019s nice to see kids here. We\u203ave got to educate the youngsters, and them being exposed to these events acclimates them to understand issues.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Information tables present were the Division of Environmental Quality of the Bureau of Environmental and Coastal Quality; Sea Turtle Program of the Department of Lands and Natural Resources; DLNR Division of Fish &amp; Wildlife; Division of Coastal Resources Management; bottomfish demo by Tony Guerrero; Micronesian Environmental Services; and the Western Pacific Regional Fishery Management Council.<\/p>\n<p>The council meeting on Saipan convenes fishery agencies and fishermen to discuss fisheries management in the offshore waters of Hawai\u2018i, American Samoa, Guam, the CNMI, and the Pacific Remote Island Areas.<\/p>\n<p>Upon the council\u2019s arrival last March 24, they held meetings at the Crowne Plaza and online.
