{"id":388908,"date":"2023-04-06T06:06:17","date_gmt":"2023-04-05T20:06:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=388908"},"modified":"2023-04-06T06:06:17","modified_gmt":"2023-04-05T20:06:17","slug":"9-named-local-winners-of-toyota-dream-car-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/9-named-local-winners-of-toyota-dream-car-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"9 named local winners of Toyota Dream Car contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Nine youngsters were named the winners of the local leg of the 2023 Toyota Dream Car Art Contest last Saturday, with the top winners of the three categories moving on to the global level, where their artwork\u2014representing their idea of a futuristic car\u2014will compete with other young artists across the globe.<\/p>\n<p>In the 8-year-old-and-under category, Ya\u2019rlis Doram\u2019s submarine car won first place, Ai Nonogaki\u2019s ecology dream car took second place and Sunyul Park\u2019s meow car landed in third.<\/p>\n<p>In the 8-to-11-year-old division, in first place was Lydia Xian\u2019s music timecar, while Aileen Kim\u2019s \u201cMy Memory Car\u201d took second prize, and En Mei Huang\u2019s \u201cThe Invention of the Future\u201d took third. <\/p>\n<p>Eunho Park\u2019s earth saving car won first place in the 12-to-15 category, with Alyssa Kim\u2019s \u201cWorld in Toyota\u201d coming in second and Yu Rong Jiang\u2019s \u201cAstro-Cityz\u201d in third. <\/p>\n<p>According to Atkins Kroll Saipan, the artwork and concepts of these nine individuals will now proceed to the International Toyota Dream Car Art Contest in Japan.<\/p>\n<p>All local winners were presented gift certificates as prizes. At the global level, the final winner receive $5,000 in cash and the school they are from will receive $10,000.<\/p>\n<p>AK has hosted the local Toyota Dream Car Art Contest every year since 2004, making this year the 16th event. <\/p>\n<p>AK\u2019s sales manager Kevin Barnes said the competition has seen over eight million children from over 140 countries participate, but Saipan has already won before at the international level. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt\u2019s really cool because Saipan is such a small little island but we have won twice in the past four years, which is remarkable,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>Barnes shared that what determines the winner isn\u2019t just great art, but about the individual\u2019s unique concept and ideas, and the message presented.  <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe great thing about this contest is it gives kids the chance to kind of\u2026problem solve, think about what they feel is important to the future, what we are lacking now that can be addressed, and find creative ways to solve that problem,\u201d said Barnes \u201cThis is a chance to use your imagination and your problem-solving skills and to do something creative.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Since this is an annual competition, if young artists missed this year\u2019s edition, they can now start thinking of what is important to them and how problems can be solved and submit it at the next event, Barnes added.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Nine youngsters were named the winners of the local leg of the 2023 Toyota Dream&#8230;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"author":31,"featured_media":388909,"comment_status":"open","ping_status":"open","sticky":false,"template":"","format":"standard","meta":{"footnotes":""},"categories":[4],"tags":[],"class_list":["post-388908","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","has-post-thumbnail","hentry","category-local-news"],"_links":{"self":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/388908","targetHints":{"allow":["GET"]}}],"collection":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts"}],"about":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/types\/post"}],"author":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/users\/31"}],"replies":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/comments?post=388908"}],"version-history":[{"count":0,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/posts\/388908\/revisions"}],"wp:featuredmedia":[{"embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media\/388909"}],"wp:attachment":[{"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/media?parent=388908"}],"wp:term":[{"taxonomy":"category","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/categories?post=388908"},{"taxonomy":"post_tag","embeddable":true,"href":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/wp-json\/wp\/v2\/tags?post=388908"}],"curies":[{"name":"wp","href":"https:\/\/api.w.org\/{rel}","templated":true}]}}
