{"id":389473,"date":"2023-04-14T06:06:17","date_gmt":"2023-04-13T20:06:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=389473"},"modified":"2023-04-14T06:06:17","modified_gmt":"2023-04-13T20:06:17","slug":"nmhc-invites-entries-for-writing-contest","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/nmhc-invites-entries-for-writing-contest\/","title":{"rendered":"NMHC invites entries for writing contest"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Marianas Humanities Council is once again hosting the My Marianas Writing Contest, this time focusing on what &#8220;home&#8221; means to young writers in the CNMI.<\/p>\n<p>This year, NMHC is partnering with the CNMI Scholarship Office to offer this writing contest, which is open to all interested CNMI high school students from ninth to twelfth grade.<\/p>\n<p>The theme for this year&#8217;s competition is \u201cSenses of Home\u201d and requires the writer to describe their island creatively and effectively through their five senses.\u00a0All essays must be three to five pages long, double-spaced, and should demonstrate not only creative but skillfully descriptive writing, as the author attempts to describe the Marianas as a home.<\/p>\n<p>The overall best submission will win $500, with the second placer getting $400 and third-place winner will get $300. The winner&#8217;s essays will also be featured in the local newspapers and on the NMHC website.<\/p>\n<p>Submit your entries to \u00a0info@nmhcouncil.org.
