{"id":389551,"date":"2023-04-14T16:41:43","date_gmt":"2023-04-14T06:41:43","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=389551"},"modified":"2023-04-14T16:41:43","modified_gmt":"2023-04-14T06:41:43","slug":"breaking-news-house-rejects-senate-version-of-budget-revision-bill","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/breaking-news-house-rejects-senate-version-of-budget-revision-bill\/","title":{"rendered":"BREAKING NEWS: House rejects Senate version of  budget revision bill"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The House of Representatives rejected this afternoon, Friday, the Senate\u2019s proposed changes in the House\u2019s bill that would revise the budget law for the CNMI government\u2019s operations in fiscal year 2023.<\/p>\n<p>With 17 voting \u201cyes\u201d and two \u201cno\u201d to floor leader Rep. Edwin K. Propst\u2019s (D-Saipan) motion to reject House Bill 23-31, a bicameral conference committee will be tasked with hammering out a mutually acceptable legislation to revise the budget law.<\/p>\n<p>Reps. Julie A. Ogo (Ind-Rota) and Patrick H. San Nicolas (R-Tinian) were the ones who voted \u201cno\u201d to Propst\u2019s motion to reject and move into a conference committee.<\/p>\n<p>Rep. Malcom Jason Omar (Ind-Saipan) was absent as he is currently in Washington, D.C. attending a policy academy pertaining to suicide prevention.<\/p>\n<p>Before the voting, Rep. Blas Jonathan T. Attao (Ind-Saipan) cited the changes to the bill in the Senate\u2019s version. Attao noted that among the changes is that the Senate added $225,000 to both Rota and Tinian.
