Parody of W.S. Sonnet 116\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

(Written on April 24, 2023, my third parody of Sonnet 116 in the voice of D.J .Trump.)<\/em><\/p>\n

 <\/p>\n

Let truth never dominate my great mind<\/p>\n

as Rudy Giuliani says, \u201cTruth is not Truth\u201d<\/p>\n

let me look for more alternate facts to find<\/p>\n

distort those facts and let Fox be uncouth<\/p>\n

Oh yes, the Fox fine was out of the ballpark<\/p>\n

but Fox fidelity to me will not be shaken<\/p>\n

let Fox News be the targets of lawyer sharks<\/p>\n

let Fox News pay lawyers money gladly taken<\/p>\n

Time will prove Trumpistas listen when I speak<\/p>\n

the entire GOP cowers when I\u2019m in the room<\/p>\n

now come lawsuits galore week after week<\/p>\n

the world knows I spread democracy\u2019s doom<\/p>\n

I know a fool and his money are soon parted<\/p>\n

I may live to regret the trouble I alone started.<\/p>\n

When in disgrace with fortune and men\u2019s eyes<\/p>\n

I all alone beweep my outcast state,<\/p>\n

And trouble deaf heav\u2019n with my bootless cries<\/p>\n

And look upon myself, and curse my fate,<\/p>\n

Wishing me like to one more rich in hope,<\/p>\n

Featured like him, like him with friends possessed,<\/p>\n

Desiring this man\u2019s art, and that man\u2019s scope,<\/p>\n

With what I most enjoy contented least;<\/p>\n

Yet in these thoughts myself almost despising,<\/p>\n

Haply I think on thee, and then my state,<\/p>\n

Like to the lark at break of day arising<\/p>\n

From sullen earth, sings hymns at heaven\u2019s gate.<\/p>\n

For thy sweet love remembered such wealth brings<\/p>\n

That then I scorn to change my state with kings.<\/p>\n

When in disgrace with fake news and lying media\u2019s eyes<\/p>\n

I throw childish temper tantrums about my outcast state<\/p>\n

I grow bald and round in size and tell many more lies<\/p>\n

too blind with presidential power to ascertain my fate.<\/p>\n

\u2018Wishing me like to one more rich in hope\u2019<\/p>\n

to use my smarts the stable genius that only I possess<\/p>\n

conspiring with V. Putin and Russian oligarchs scope<\/p>\n

what I enjoy most is being out on my own golf course.<\/p>\n

Despite my being so smart there are some still despising<\/p>\n

instinctively I think of me and my Secretary of State<\/p>\n

with the price of Middle East oil per barrel then rising<\/p>\n

from Saudi Arabia up to the Northern Arctic gates.<\/p>\n

Liquid largesse for me increasing my wealth and bling<\/p>\n

that then I know I am \u201dbelieve me\u201d an American king.<\/p>\n

My presidency in disgrace in the nation\u2019s eyes<\/p>\n

I all alone tweet my confused state<\/p>\n

And trouble the generals with baby boy cries<\/p>\n

So sad I\u2019m not Making America Great.<\/p>\n

Wish I was like that man from Hope<\/p>\n

He\u2019s articulate, a policy wonk and computer nerd<\/p>\n

I\u2019m jealous of his ability to speak and cope<\/p>\n

Instead I belittle and insult others with every word.<\/p>\n

Yet in these thoughts filled with self loathing<\/p>\n

I think of money and how much I\u2019m making<\/p>\n

And obstinately fold my arms inside my clothing<\/p>\n

Continuing bombastic demagoguery and faking.<\/p>\n

For bling and bucks remembered on this occasion<\/p>\n

Dispel thoughts of going to prison for tax evasion.<\/p>\n
