(CONTRIBUTED PHOTO)<br \/><\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>Shirley\u2019s Football Club and MP United Football Club reached the top of the standings after Week 9 of the Flores-P\u00e9\u00e9 Luwal Division of the 2023 Spring Dove Women\u2019s League at the NMI Soccer Training Center in Koblerville last Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>In a turn of events, Shirley\u2019s have silenced the hot Southern United Football Club, 8-0, while MP United doubled Matansa, 4-2.<\/p>\n<p>Shirley\u2019s throttled the gas early as they put the brakes on SUFC\u2019s winning streak.<\/p>\n<p>Just three minutes in, Jeraldine Castillo found the back of the net for an early lead. The teams then battled it out on the field for a silent next few minutes, but Marilou Arriola made it 2-0 in the 21st minute.<\/p>\n<p>Shirley\u2019s continued to display their superior ball control and positioning, frequently penetrating SUFC\u2019s defense and creating scoring opportunities, with Castillo completing the hat-trick back-to-back for a 4-0 game.<\/p>\n<p>They continued their relentless attack at the net in the second half and scored four more goals made by Marielle Lopez, Arriola, Mikayla Lopez, and another goal by Castillo.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>As for MP United, despite the first goal made by Matansa\u2019s Jenna Tenorio in the 13th minute, they managed to claw their way to victory.<\/p>\n<p>Moriah Sablan equalized the game in the 22nd minute and MP United immediately took the lead just three minutes later off a goal by Loriann Rabe.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The second and last goal by Matansa was made in the 30th minute and MP United capitalized and scored the tie-breaking goal six minutes later. They added one more goal for good measure in the 42nd minute and that was more than enough to get the W.<\/p>\n<p>In the last game of the day, Tan Holdings scooped the 1-0 win from Kanoa after their goal made by Christine Beceril in the 58th minute.<\/p>\n<p>In the standings, Shirley\u2019s and MP United have kicked SUFC out of first place with a 5-2-1 record each.
