Our Mother Who is In Heaven<\/strong><\/p>\n

Our mother who is up in heaven above<\/p>\n

honored be thy name and family with you<\/p>\n

your children here on earth send all their love<\/p>\n

thank you for all your work giving birth too.<\/p>\n

Give us this day your mother\u2019s delicious old recipes<\/p>\n

for scalloped potatoes and Boston baked beans<\/p>\n

cottage pudding cake, ham and black eyed peas<\/p>\n

that homemade cocoa we drank through our teens.<\/p>\n

Forgive me mother for not helping you more<\/p>\n

and spending my allowance at the candy store<\/p>\n

thus I avoided the smallest household chore<\/p>\n

complaining that washing the dishes was a bore.<\/p>\n

I hope to see you in heaven if I ever get there<\/p>\n

until then dearest Mother know that I care.<\/p>\n

Hail Mother Who Sang Amazing Grace<\/strong><\/p>\n

All hail my mother who sang Amazing Grace<\/p>\n

and many other fun songs out in our back yard<\/p>\n

some old Christmas carols by our stone fireplace<\/p>\n

teaching us to make our own Christmas card.<\/p>\n

Jolly mother putting up with three naughty boys<\/p>\n

two angelic daughters and her two adoring cats<\/p>\n

their bird and rabbit tributes brought old age joys<\/p>\n

and for seventeen years her house was free of rats.<\/p>\n

To mothers everywhere from Grandma back to teen<\/p>\n

with childhood memories of our \u2018guardians dear\u2019<\/p>\n

all the prayers and songs you taught us in between<\/p>\n

your love and purpose Mothers always perfectly clear.<\/p>\n

Hail to all our mothers with dignity and grace<\/p>\n

this prayer is for you across all cyber space.<\/p>\n

Glory be to Thee Dear Mothers<\/strong><\/p>\n

Glory be to thee dear mothers with difficult births<\/p>\n

mine with three boys and then two daughters<\/p>\n

father said a novena which he considered worth<\/p>\n

the life of us all, Cesarean without broken waters<\/p>\n

now and ever shall be great mothers to the end<\/p>\n

and the same to their loving children and men.<\/p>\n

A personal note: My mother was of Irish ancestry<\/p>\n

born in 1919 and passed away peacefully at age 92.<\/p>\n

She had all her mental faculties and I spoke with her<\/p>\n

on the phone the night before she died. She was jovial<\/p>\n

and planning a birthday party for my youngest sister.<\/p>\n

She graduated from Nazareth College, Rochester, NY<\/p>\n

at age 20 in 1939. She had 5 Cesareans sections assisted<\/p>\n

by a Chinese physician. She was loved by all who knew<\/p>\n

her. She related well with her teen children and their<\/p>\n

friends in the turbulent 1960s. She danced and rocked<\/p>\n
