{"id":39237,"date":"2014-06-19T04:00:00","date_gmt":"2014-06-18T18:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=39237"},"modified":"2014-06-19T04:00:00","modified_gmt":"2014-06-18T18:00:00","slug":"69th-liberation-day-kicks-june-27","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/69th-liberation-day-kicks-june-27\/","title":{"rendered":"69th Liberation Day kicks off on June 27"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The 69th Liberation Day will kick off on June 27 and will run through July 6 at the Garapan Fishing Base in front of Kristo Rai on Beach Road.<\/p>\n<p>According to Liberation Day committee chair Vicente Camacho said this year\u2019s theme is going to be a \u201cReunion of Honor: Tribute to the Mayors\u201d since the islands just lost former mayors Prudencio Manglona and Donald Glenn P. Flores.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are still going to have a parade and that parade is also going to be dedicated to the mayors,\u201d Camacho told Saipan Tribune. \u201cWe might have to put the families of the late mayors on convertibles to highlight all of them.\u201d <\/p>\n<p>According to Camacho, the parade\u2019s submission deadline for participants, which also includes the float competition and regular floats, is this June 30.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe parade route is going to be from south to north around the Quartermaster area maybe, but we are still looking at it,\u201d Camacho said.<\/p>\n<p>Camacho noted that they may allow alcohol to be served at the Liberation Day festivities. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThe plan is to bring in and allow alcohol and there will be a section to control the alcohol and have nightly entertainment as well,\u201d Camacho said.<\/p>\n<p>The Liberation Day Committee still looking for entertainers, performers, participants, food vendors, and those who plan to join this year\u2019s 69th celebration of Liberation Day.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are asking for vendors and it is still open.
