TAMUNING, Guam\u2014Docomo Pacific, the regional leader in innovation, telecommunications, and entertainment, said the majority of their cell sites in Guam did not suffer major damage due to Typhoon Mawar<\/p>\n

Docomo Pacific said the primary issue at this time is getting island power restored to the sites.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are working closely with Guam Power Authority as they restore services. When an area has been re-energized, our team will move quickly to restore service in those areas. In the meantime, we have deployed generators at strategic sites to maximize coverage, and to ensure a stable power supply for as many mobile sites as possible. Because our critical facilities and cell sites are currently relying on generators, we are in close discussions with Guam Homeland Security and GovGuam to add Docomo Pacific rapid response teams to the list of essential services for vehicle, facility, and generator refueling,\u201d it said in a statement.<\/p>\n

To Docomo Pacific\u2019s customers in the southern villages of Guam, the company\u2019s initial assessments show that their fiber network supporting several sites sustained storm damage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis means that even if we were to power these sites with a portable generator, there is no connectivity at this time. This is on our list of high priorities and will keep you updated on our progress.\u201d<\/p>\n

For fixed services (home\/business internet, landlines, and cable TV), Docomo Pacific said they\u2019re prioritizing getting their Mobile Network up and running to keep customers connected.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe are prioritizing restoration to public safety and health care facilities. Once these are restored, we will proceed quickly to restore fixed services. We greatly appreciate your patience and understanding.\u201d<\/p>\n

During the recovery period following the onslaught of Mawar, Docomo Pacific said there would be no disconnections, no data caps, and load-free prepaid service to all their subscribers.<\/p>\n
