{"id":39283,"date":"2014-06-19T04:00:54","date_gmt":"2014-06-18T18:00:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=39283"},"modified":"2014-06-19T04:00:54","modified_gmt":"2014-06-18T18:00:54","slug":"dpw-extends-anew-marpi-landfill-emergency-contract","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/dpw-extends-anew-marpi-landfill-emergency-contract\/","title":{"rendered":"DPW extends anew Marpi landfill emergency contract"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Department of Public Works Secretary Martin Sablan confirmed Tuesday that the six-month emergency contract awarded to Tangs Corp. to operate the Marpi landfill has been extended for three months in the amount of some $186,000.<\/p>\n<p>Sablan said the extension will give DPW time to issue a request for proposal, receive bids, and award a three-year contract for the landfill\u2019s operation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAn RFP is being finalized. If a long-term contract is awarded earlier than expected, we could terminate the three-month extension contract because that\u2019s one of the conditions,\u201d the DPW secretary told Saipan Tribune.<\/p>\n<p>DPW awarded Tangs Corp. with a six-month emergency contract in December 2013 to operate the Marpi landfill for some $372,000.
