{"id":393601,"date":"2023-06-12T06:05:07","date_gmt":"2023-06-11T20:05:07","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=393601"},"modified":"2023-06-12T06:05:07","modified_gmt":"2023-06-11T20:05:07","slug":"nmi-awarded-1-7m-for-medical-reserve-corps","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/nmi-awarded-1-7m-for-medical-reserve-corps\/","title":{"rendered":"NMI awarded $1.7M for Medical Reserve Corps"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Administration for Strategic Preparedness and Response announced Friday that $1.7 million has been awarded the CNMI to strengthen the Medical Reserve Corps network, focusing on emergency preparedness, response, and health equity needs. <\/p>\n<p>Funding for the first-ever MRC State, Territory and Tribal Nations, Representative Organizations for Next Generation, or MRC-STTRONG, grant program is from the American Rescue Plan.\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. will use the funds to expand community partnerships with a focus on addressing health disparities, access and functional needs, and other at-risk populations. CHCC will engage partners and communities on assessments, outreach, recruitment and volunteer planning.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMRC units are a force multiplier for local emergency responses,\u201d said assistant secretary for Preparedness and Response Dawn O\u2019Connell. \u201cThe ARP-funded awards announced [Friday] will bolster response efforts in communities across the nation, building on the invaluable role that the MRC played during our fight against COVID-19.\u201d\u00a0\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>The competitive grant was one of 33 awarded by ASPR through the MRC-STTRONG grant program.
