The biggest factor was my putting—no three-putts—which has cost me in the past,” she said.

The Manila-born but Mindanao, Philippines-raised Jones also said practicing some rounds before the June tourney definitely helped.

“I worked hard on my chipping and putting the week before the tournament and thankfully it paid off at the right time.”

She then dedicated her win to her fellow CWGA members, most especially the ladies that were part of her group last Saturday.

“I suppose I should dedicate at least part of this win to the ladies in my foursome, particularly Yuko Togawa as she is always a good example on how to play golf. And I need to mention my husband as well, who has been giving me a lot of encouragement and tips on my putting stroke,” said Jones.

Coming in runner-up in the June tourney was Rose Rohringer who shot a net 77 (92, 46-46), while completing the Top 3 was Togawa with her net 81 (88, 40-48).

Others who played in the June tourney, with their net scores in parenthesis, were Doll Yamagishi (82), Nirimai Koebel (85), and Terry Guerrero (91).

The club continues to look for new members as the new season continues.
