{"id":394727,"date":"2023-06-28T06:06:05","date_gmt":"2023-06-27T20:06:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=394727"},"modified":"2023-06-28T06:06:05","modified_gmt":"2023-06-27T20:06:05","slug":"cnmi-asl-teacher-gets-into-rits-randleman-summer-program","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/cnmi-asl-teacher-gets-into-rits-randleman-summer-program\/","title":{"rendered":"CNMI ASL teacher gets into RIT\u2019s Randleman Summer Program"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>In recognition of her outstanding achievements and solidifying her standing among the top interpreters in the field, CNMI American Sign Language\/English interpreter Terricka Deleon Guerrero Cabrera has been admitted into the National Technical Institute for the Deaf\u2019s RIT Randleman Summer Intensive Program in 2023.<\/p>\n<p>As an enthusiastic and dedicated ASL interpreter, Cabrera became known for her vibrant and personable approach to her work, backed with a strong educational background. Cabrera had graduated in 2022 with a B.A. in ASL\/English interpreting, accompanied by minors in ASL Studies and Psychology.<\/p>\n<p>During her undergraduate studies, Cabrera graduated summa cum laude from Western Oregon University, and had also been selected for a coveted internship at Western Oregon University, where she gained invaluable hands-on experience.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, she is pursuing an M.A. in Interpreting Studies, further expanding her knowledge and skills in the field.<\/p>\n<p>Cabrera\u2019s professional expertise includes a range of specialized areas, including training for TypeWell transcribing and a deep understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. She has also honed her abilities in working with DeafBlind individuals as a co-navigator and is adept in utilizing Protacile language.<\/p>\n<p>Cabrera said she wants to get better at her profession and is currently engaged in a transformative action research project.
