Christian<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>The CNMI\u2019s lone interisland carrier, Star Marianas Air, is increasing its airfare effective Aug. 1, 2023, citing current market conditions and operational costs.<\/p>\n<p>SMA announced the new rates in a message posted on its website and social media page last Friday, with SMA president Shaun R. Christian saying the company is committed to having a sustainable operation.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cAt Star Marianas Air, our commitment has always been to provide excellent service while ensuring the sustainability of our operations. As part of this commitment, we periodically review our fares to reflect the current market conditions and operational costs,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<p>The new rates only affects the Saipan-Tinian-Saipan route and the Rota-Guam-Rota route. The fares for flights between Saipan and Rota will remain unchanged.<\/p>\n<p>According to the SMA notice, there will be an increase of $9.50 in each direction of the Saipan-Tinian-Saipan route. The new fares for this route are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>CNMI resident fare: $55.<\/li>\n<li>Military fare: $60<\/li>\n<li>Regular full fare: $65<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Additionally, the excess baggage fee will be set at $0.35 per pound.<\/p>\n<p>Flights between Rota and Guam will increase $19.50 in each direction, resulting in a new fare of $140 each way.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSMA encourages passengers to visit the company\u2019s website\u2014https:\/\/www.starmarianasair.com\/\u2014for booking needs.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur website provides up-to-date information on flight availability, fares, and other essential details.
