It is the\u00a0happiness one enjoys for others. In Buddhism mudita is\u00a0\u201cthe ability to spontaneously and sincerely participate in another\u2019s good fortune as if it were your own.\u201d A mantra is a hymn or portion of a text in Hinduism. It is chanted\u00a0or intoned as an incantation or prayer.<\/p>\n<p><strong>A Midsummer Morning Mudita Mantra<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>I have mudita for these things, days, and all four seasons<br \/>\nOn three-day holidays which sometimes on Monday end<br \/>\nAll those who disregard online trolls that insult and offend<br \/>\nWednesday hump day with the weekend round the bend<br \/>\nThursdays when my neighbors have a helping hand to lend<br \/>\nFridays getting beer and other things for a party weekend<br \/>\nSaturday house chores done so no more clean ups to tend<br \/>\nA day to rest up with a snoozing Sunday siesta to mend.<\/p>\n<p>Concrete thinkers abstract thoughts begin to comprehend<br \/>\nKorean grandparents enjoying tropical fruit and juice blend<br \/>\nLoose chickens, goats, pigs, and cows finally get penned<br \/>\nEvery day during the Xmas holidays making a new friend<br \/>\nMudita for all who once seemed to be easily offended<br \/>\nWho now bring us laughter before each day is ended.<\/p>\n<p>***<br \/>\n<em>Joey aka Pepe Batbon Connolly is a retired educator who taught in the CNMI, NOLA, and LVNV.
