{"id":397887,"date":"2023-08-28T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-08-28T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=397887"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Benavente-is-elected-president-of-the-CNMI-Republican-Party","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Benavente-is-elected-president-of-the-CNMI-Republican-Party\/","title":{"rendered":"Benavente is elected president of the CNMI Republican Party"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The CNMI Republican Party has elected former lieutenant governor Diego Tenorio Benavente as its president.<\/p>\n<p>With close to 200 members present during a general membership meeting at the Garapan Central Park last Monday evening, the party also elected Candace Celis and former representative Lee Pan Guerrero as first and second vice president, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Benavente, who also served eight terms in the CNMI House of Representatives, and three consecutive terms as the speaker, highlighted the participation of both Tinian and Rota Republican Party members.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the first time that we held the membership meeting simultaneously on all three islands.,\u201d he said. \u201c\u2026This is a party of inclusion, and we welcome everyone to join. Together, we can help lead the CNMI to provide the best education for our children, adequate health care, funding for public safety, and other vital concerns that we all share.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Celis, who is the former party president, said, \u201cI am excited and look forward to working with everyone. \u2026I would also like to thank the previous board. It was an honor to have worked alongside them, especially Pat Rasa and Shayne Villanueva. Si yu\u2019us ma\u2019ase!\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Re-elected as the party\u2019s secretary is Vivan Nogis and Ray Basa as the treasurer.
