The Federal Energy Policy Act enacted by Congress in 2005 mandated training for all underground storage tank system operators. There are two types of operators who must receive training: a Primary Operator (Class A\/B) and an Emergency Response Operator (Class C). <\/p>\n
It is the responsibility of underground storage tank owners to designate a Primary Operator for each facility. The person designated as the Primary Operator should be an individual who is responsible for the day-to-day aspects of operating, maintaining, and recordkeeping, and has a general knowledge of the underground storage tank compliance requirements. Underground storage tank operators are required to obtain certification. <\/p>\n
The certification training shall be held on Tuesday, July 29, 2014. Registration is required by July 1, with the cost $150 per person in advance, $200 at the door. To register, call: 866-301-8265 (US Pacific Time); email info@USTtraining.com; or visit the website at www.USTtraining.com.<\/p>\n
The one-day training agenda shall include, but is not limited to, the following: UST Operator Certification overview, Basic UST Technology, Release Detection, Release Response, Spill Containment, Overfill Prevention, Corrosion Protection, and Required Paperwork relating to the Operation and Maintenance of USTs.<\/p>\n
There is also an online training course available for Class A, Class B and Class C, for the Emergency Response operators. <\/p>\n
After completing the one-day training, each participant can obtain his\/her certification by passing a 20-question exam with a score of 80 percent or better. This certification shall be good for two years, unless the facility is not in compliance. <\/p>\n
