With three months left until 2024, former Saipan resident and current Colby College student Arvin S. Dayao has already reaped honors and awards that for a lot of students may take some time to achieve.<\/p>\n

Just this September, Dayao was again chosen as the recipient of the Bixler Scholar Distinction award\u2014an honor given only to a small group of students who have been distinguished for their academic excellence. He has received the award for three consecutive years.<\/p>\n

The Bixler Fund was set up in 1960 by the Colby Parents Association in honor of former Colby College president Julius S. Bixler upon his retirement in 1960. The Fund is set up to honor students for their extraordinary academic engagement and commitment.<\/p>\n

In July, Dayao received accolades for winning the Gregory C. Pomeroy award for Excellent Abstract Writing during the Colby Summer Research Retreat 2023 held at Colby College from June to July, 2023.<\/p>\n

In May, Dayao was inducted into the Colby College\u2019s chapter of the Phi Beta Kappa, enabling him to join a select group of academics selected for their academic achievements in the classroom and dedication to the ideals of liberal learning.<\/p>\n

Ankeney Weitz, president of PBK Beta Chapter of Maine, invited Dayao to join the college\u2019s top graduates who, for more than a century, have been members of the PBK honor society. PBK is the oldest and most prestigious academic honor society, with chapters only at the most distinguished colleges and universities in the U.S.<\/p>\n

Earlier this year in February, Dayao was selected as a recipient of the Phi Beta Kappa Undergraduate Scholastic Achievement Award, which is given annually to outstanding sophomore and junior students.<\/p>\n

Dayao is currently a senior at Colby College in Maine, which he has been attending as a Questbridge Match full academic scholar since fall 2020. He is a biology major with a concentration in cell and molecular biology. Dayao intends to pursue masters studies when he graduates in May 2024.<\/p>\n

Dayao graduated class valedictorian from Grace Christian Academy Class of 2020. He is the son of Jun and Mirasol Dayao, formerly from Navy Hill, Saipan. (PR)<\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n
