{"id":400631,"date":"2023-10-20T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-10-20T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=400631"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Nihi-Indigenous-Media-announces-4-episode-show","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Nihi-Indigenous-Media-announces-4-episode-show\/","title":{"rendered":"Nihi Indigenous Media announces 4-episode show"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>HAGATNA, Guam\u2014<\/strong>Nihi Indigenous Media announces the release of their newest series, Marianas Cousins: a 4-episode show that features a child from each of the southern sister islands of b, as they take you through their daily lives, capturing the simple joys and timeless beauty of homeland and the village.<\/p>\n<p>The trailer was released last Oct. 4 and the Gu\u00e5han episode released the following week.<\/p>\n<p>It was followed by the Luta episode, which comes out today. T\u00e5nom (Gu\u00e5han), Isaiah (Luta), Celeste (Tinian), and Ina (Saipan) are the stars of this season.<\/p>\n<p>Director Cara Flores states, \u201cOur land connections begin in childhood with simple joys: the tree that we planted with our n\u00e5na, our grandpa\u2019s farm, the beach that dad taught us to fish at, the swimming spot where we first jumped into the ocean with our friends. This series celebrates those connections to the land and to each other, across our islands.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>In addition to filming in Gu\u00e5han where the production house is based out of, the Nihi Indigenous film crew also spent three weeks filming in the Northern Mariana Islands with five intense days of filming in each island.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe want to express our gratitude to each of our sister islands for welcoming us so graciously and for allowing us to capture these special places. We couldn\u2019t have asked for better host families who let us into their homes, clans, and villages,\u201d said Flores.<\/p>\n<p>Co-producer Siobhon McManus states, \u201cThis series is a reminder that our people across the islands are beautiful, thriving, and kind.
