The Department of Public Safety continues to investigate the burglaries at both the Da\u2019Ok Academy and the Koblerville Elementary School nearly a week ago.<\/p>\n

DPS spokesperson Fred Sato said the Da\u2019Ok Academy and KES break-ins remain open cases as DPS continues to look into leads provided by members of the community.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have received tips through DPS\u2019 landline and Crime Stoppers of possible suspects. The criminal investigation unit, or CIB, is working on these leads right now. There are no warrants of arrests and we do not have actual suspects right now. We will release that information as soon as possible, unless we determine they are juveniles. This case is currently active; no arrests have been made,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n

According to Sato, DPS received a call in the morning of Nov. 10 from the Da\u2019Ok Academy\u2019s school administrator, who determined that the school had been burglarized after viewing the surveillance footage.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn the morning of Nov. 10, the school administrator was viewing the school\u2019s surveillance footage because she noticed a nearby closet was open and the room was in disarray. That\u2019s when she confirmed that the school had been burglarized. Items that were stolen include laptops, iPads, and more,\u201d Sato said.<\/p>\n

The CNMI has seen a recent spike in the number of burglaries and robberies and many of these cases remain active and unsolved.<\/p>\n

One of the most recent unsolved burglaries victimized an 84-year-old man who was held at knifepoint at his residence on Capital Hill last month.<\/p>\n

In that case, DPS has received tips and CIB continues to investigate them, Sato said. However, no suspect has been identified so no arrest has been made yet.<\/p>\n

DPS sent out a press release seeking the community\u2019s help to solve this case.<\/p>\n

Reports state that the man was awakened by two males who were inside his residence. One of the suspects held him at knifepoint and threatened him while the other went through the victim\u2019s belongings.<\/p>\n

DPS reported that the suspects later fled the scene and were able to steal $650 in cash, an Echo bushcutter, and two Samsung cell phones.<\/p>\n

A helper who arrived in the morning to do yard cleaning assisted in reporting the incident because the elderly man\u2019s cell phone had been stolen.<\/p>\n
