{"id":402560,"date":"2023-12-12T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2023-12-12T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=402560"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"New-CUC-TMO-Wehlburg-finds-her-job-challenging","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/New-CUC-TMO-Wehlburg-finds-her-job-challenging\/","title":{"rendered":"New CUC TMO Wehlburg finds her job challenging"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Rachel Wehlburg, the new technical manager for oil at the Commonwealth Utilities Corp., is enjoying the challenges of her job and the people at CUC.<\/p>\n<p>As CUC\u2019s TMO, Wehlburg oversees all the requirements of the U.S. District Court for the NMI\u2019s stipulated order No. 2, which is a federal order that focuses on oil issues such as repairing and replacing infrastructure, managing tanks and pipelines, and spill prevention and response.<\/p>\n<p>Wehlburg said in an interview on Thursday that, as TMO, she oversees all oil-related issues like the disposal of petroleum contaminated products and makes sure that CUC complies with requirements and regulations of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Bureau of Environmental &amp; Coastal Quality, Coast Guard, and Clean Air Act and the Safe Drinking Water Act.<\/p>\n<p>Wehlburg started as TMO last June. Her professional background is maritime. She graduated from the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI sailed deep sea for eight years under the\u2026Marine Engineers\u2019 Beneficial Association. And now I\u2019m here,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n<p>Before joining CUC, Wehlburg was sailing maritime with APL with a route between Saipan, Guam, Korea, and Japan.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cSo I just wanted to get a job shoreside because I was sick of being gone half a year with my job.
