Series starts today"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The NMIBF Marianas Arsenal 3&#215;3 Basketball Series 2K23 for December starts today, Dec. 21, with the championship set for Saturday, Dec. 23 at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.<\/p>\n<p>The first 3&#215;3 series last November was won by Team Nesian Built, which consists of Coby Santos, Douglas Schmidt, Preston Basa, and Jack Lizama. They bested 12 other teams and faced Hagu Real Hoops\u2019 Gerald Flores, Joseph Sablan, Shane Deleon Guerrero, and Elijah Aughenbaugh in the finals last Nov. 25.<\/p>\n<p>November\u2019s undefeated Team Nesian Built has a chance of representing NMI in the FIBA Asia 3&#215;3 Cup in Singapore next year.<\/p>\n<p>There are currently 11 men\u2019s teams and five women\u2019s teams vying for the December 3&#215;3 championship.<\/p>\n<p>The series is open to any team whether they want to participate in the FIBA 3&#215;3 Asia Cup or not.<\/p>\n<p>The entrance fee per team is $300. The check must be payable to the Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation.<\/p>\n<p>For those who want to join the next series, to be eligible, a player:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Must possess a U.S. passport not expiring within one year from March 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Must not have played for the national team in basketball and\/or 3&#215;3 for another country in an official FIBA competition of FIBA.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Must be at least 18 years old by March 1, 2024, and must turn 19 years old or older by the end of 2024.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Must have participated in at least three FIBA 3&#215;3 competitions.<\/p>\n<p><h4>League format<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Maximum of 12 teams for men and eight for women.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Single round robin\/two pools (Pool A and Pool B).<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Knockout round: Top 4 teams advance from each pool for men and top two teams from each pool for women.<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 All games will be played under FIBA 3&#215;3 rules and regulations.<\/p>\n<p>All teams will be given points at the end of each month with the following scoring system:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 1st place &#8211; 50 points<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 2nd place &#8211; 40 points<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 3rd place &#8211; 30 points<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 4th place &#8211; 20 points<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 All other teams &#8211; 10 points<\/p>\n<p>For more information, call (670) 287-3103 or email nmibasketballfederation@gmail.com.<\/p>\n<figure style=\"width: 480px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/imgupload\/f74167f64d218a442061c6ea8a5cf412.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><figcaption class=\"wp-caption-text\"><\/p>\n<p>From left, Team Nesian Built&#8217;s Coby Santos, Jack Lizama, Preston Basa, and Douglas Schmidt were the champions of the first Marianas Arsenal 3&#215;3 Series last November at the Gilbert C.
