Lace up your running shoes for the last race of 2023\u2014”Run from \u201823 Mile Race\u201d this Sunday, Dec. 31. at 6:45am.<\/p>\n

The course starts next to the Saipan Shipping Co. and will go through the newly paved Industrial Road in front of the Gov. Eloy S. Inos Peace Park in Puerto Rico and ends right before the entrance to the Smiling Cove Marina.<\/p>\n

Race divisions are the top open men and women, 14-and-under, 18-and-under, ages 35-39, 40-44, 45-49, 50-54, 55-59, and 60-and-up; along with a stroller\/pram division.<\/p>\n

There will be a new king and queen of the road as defending winners from the past two races\u2014Keith Ketola and Tania Tan\u2014won\u2019t be here to compete.<\/p>\n

Ketola set the course record last year with a time of 4:14, while Tan set her PB with a time of 5:06.<\/p>\n

Run Saipan president Edward Dela Cruz Jr. said, \u201cThis is an all-out competition. You want to find out your fastest mile time and our course that we wanted to do for the last few years\u2014the Industrial Road is done.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cIt\u2019s a downhill, downhill race course, one way for who is the fastest one-mile runner, male, female, and student\u2026 I welcome everybody for our one-mile road race. So, if you want to find out your fastest mile time\u2014this is the fastest one-mile race course. Everyone runs so fast. I can guarantee you there will be PBs set for everybody.\u201d<\/p>\n

Dela Cruz added that the new course will be the permanent one-mile road race course. \u201cThanks to the Commonwealth Ports Authority for getting the Industrial Road done,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n
