{"id":403709,"date":"2024-01-10T21:19:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-10T21:19:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=403709"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Tinian-Tasi-Yan-Langit-Sonneta","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Tinian-Tasi-Yan-Langit-Sonneta\/","title":{"rendered":"Tinian Tasi Yan Langit \u2018Sonneta\u2019"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>My \u201csonneta\u201d is written in sonata form: Exposition, Development, Recapitulation, and Coda. <em>Tasi<\/em> means ocean, <em>langit<\/em> is sky.<\/p>\n<p><h4><strong>EXPOSITION:<\/strong><\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cThe sea can do craziness, it can do smooth,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u2026and so no doubt can you and you.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p><p style=\"text-align: right;\"><strong>\u2014Mary Oliver (1935 &#8211; 2019)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><h3>DEVELOPMENT:<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>The Tinian Sea can be <em>todu kaduk<\/em>u, crazy<\/p>\n<p><em>yan lokkue tosta<\/em>, low tide quiet and smooth<\/p>\n<p>after weeks of calm it sometimes seems lazy<\/p>\n<p>then it quickly becomes rough and uncouth.<\/p>\n<p>Spitting sand and seaweed up on the shore<\/p>\n<p>as it has done for countless centuries before<\/p>\n<p>fish get caught in throw nets near the beach<\/p>\n<p>some escape and swim quickly out of reach.<\/p>\n<p>We too can be crazy, lazy, calm, and quiet<\/p>\n<p>disrespectful, dishonest, rude, and uncouth<\/p>\n<p>manifest gluttonous habits, need for a diet<\/p>\n<p>in life\u2019s ups and downs, old age back to youth.<\/p>\n<p>As we live and love next to the Philippine Sea<\/p>\n<p>the ocean can be rough and calm and so can we.<\/p>\n<p><h4>RECAPITULATION:<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>Home seems so far away so sad am I<\/p>\n<p>the channel is wide I cannot get across<\/p>\n<p>the ocean waves crash, break and toss<\/p>\n<p>I\u2019m longing to look up at stars in the sky.<\/p>\n<p><h4>CODA:<\/h4>\n<\/p>\n<p>I look for steamy looking distant stars down<\/p>\n<p>near the Scorpio constellation\u2019s tail<\/p>\n<p>coming out of the Teakettle constellation\u2019s<\/p>\n<p>spout with hope my eyes don\u2019t fail.<\/p>\n<p><em>N.B. The Milky Way galaxy can be seen with the naked eye between the tail of the Scorpio constellation and the spout of the Teakettle constellation.
