Newly-appointed Education Commissioner Dr. Lawrence Camacho says the \u201cmatter\u201d about a Marianas High School staff member\u2019s alleged misconduct \u201cis currently under investigation\u201d and that the CNMI Public School System is \u201ccommitted to transparency, the safety of each student, and maintaining the trust of our community.\u201d<\/p>\n

In response to Saipan Tribune<\/em>\u2019s inquiries about the alleged misconduct last Friday morning, Camacho said in an email response that their top priority is the \u201cwellbeing and security of our students, staff, and the community we serve.\u201d<\/p>\n

Camacho said they are working with the Department of Public Safety and the Division of Youth Services for a \u201cthorough and impartial investigation.\u201d<\/p>\n

\u201cTheir expertise and involvement will contribute to a comprehensive assessment of the situation,\u201d he added.<\/p>\n

He then said that PSS has no further comments to provide, but that they are committed to keeping the community informed as developments arise or circumstances change.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe appreciate your understanding and cooperation in allowing the investigative process to unfold. The safety and well-being of our students and the trust of our community remain paramount, and we are dedicated to maintaining the highest standards in addressing this matter,\u201d said Camacho.<\/p>\n

Separately, MHS principal Jonathan Aguon sent an email last Thursday to parents along similar lines as Camacho\u2019s response.<\/p>\n

Both PSS and DPS have not revealed any details of the alleged misconduct, but social media chatter has divulged what misconduct allegedly happened and identified the MHS teacher who is reportedly involved. Saipan Tribune<\/em> is withholding those details for now until authorities officially release that information.<\/p>\n
