{"id":403977,"date":"2024-01-19T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-01-19T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=403977"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"NMA-open-tryouts-for-OAC-Micro-Games","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/NMA-open-tryouts-for-OAC-Micro-Games\/","title":{"rendered":"NMA open tryouts for OAC, Micro Games"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Northern Marianas Athletics is hosting open tryouts for the sport of athletics with monthly trials to start this March and last until May.<\/p>\n<p>This is your chance to represent the NMI in the Oceania Athletics Championships in Suva, Fiji on June 4-8, and the Micronesian Games on June 15-24, 2024 in the Marshall Islands.<\/p>\n<p>All tryouts in the events of sprints and hurdles, middle- and long- distance run, throws, and jumps will be held at the Oleai Sports Complex.<\/p>\n<p>Age groups are senior open, under 18 for the Oceania Championships, and senior open for the Micronesian Games.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, NMA is conducting national team practices at the Oleai Sports Complex every Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm to 8pm, and Saturday from 6am to 8am. The training is open to all interested individuals aspiring to try out for the games.<\/p>\n<p>According to NMA, it welcomes athletes of all levels and backgrounds to participate in the trials.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhether you&#8217;re an experienced competitor or new to athletics, this is a fantastic opportunity to be part of the Northern Mariana Islands&#8217; athletic contingent,\u201d it said.<\/p>\n<p>The NMI has customarily performed well at the Micronesian Games, and NMA hopes to field a team this year that can continue to compete at a high level.<\/p>\n<p>Interested athletes must meet the qualifying standards set forth by NMA and the Micronesian Games eligibility requirements. They must also submit all relevant documents after meeting the qualifying standards.<\/p>\n<p>Qualifying standards for each event will be posted on the NMA Facebook page.
