However due to my being diagnosed with three herniated discs in the lower lumbar region of my spine two days ago and the editor of the <em>Saipan Tribune<\/em> down with flu, I think its best we cancel the trip. We\u2019ll come back for the Taga\u2019s birthday.<\/p>\n<p>I have fond memories of past Pika Fests: Watching Ms. Ayuyu win against all competitors in eating the most boonie peppers. I thought I\u2019d gag and vomit if I tried to eat that many Pika hamburgers in a short period of time. Then watching the competitors chow them down and not one of them puked.<\/p>\n<p>I hope some of the military personnel on island join in the fun competition. Here are some instructions how readers can have fun with the following melody medley rap poem:<\/p>\n<p>Read the excerpted lyrics from well-known songs. If you know or recognize the tune, sing the following short message about Pika Fest using the same tune and sing the words aloud.<\/p>\n<p>Have fun and <em>biba<\/em> Pika Fest!<\/p>\n<p><h3>Pika Fest Melody Medley Rap<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cSugar in the morning, sugar in the evening, sugar at supper time,<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>be my little sugar and I\u2019ll love you all the time\u2026\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Peppers in the morning, peppers in the evening, peppers all the time,<\/p>\n<p>be my little pika and I\u2019ll eat you all the time.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cEvery time it rains it rains pennies from heaven, don\u2019t you know<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>each cloud contains pennies from heaven\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Every time it rains peppers grow <em>pika<\/em> from heaven, don\u2019t you know<\/p>\n<p>every pepper bush grows <em>mas pikaka<\/em> from heaven.<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI Can\u2019t Get No Satisfaction\u201d\u2014Rolling Stones song.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I can\u2019t get no boonie pepper but I try and I try\u2026<\/p>\n<p><em>\u2018Rasta Man Vibrations, yah positive live if you want to live\u2019<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Pika Fest Vibrations yeah positive, eat if you want to live<\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cI shot the sheriff but I did not shoot the deputy.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>I ate the peppers and I love what they do to me,<\/p>\n<p>though they are <em>mampus pika<\/em> they are not new to me.<\/p>\n<p>And for all the marijuana farmers a parody of a 1920s classic song, <em>If You\u2019re a Viper:<\/em><\/p>\n<p><em>\u201cDreamed about a reefer five feet long, a little bit hot but not too strong, you\u2019ll be high before too long, if you\u2019re a viper, sssss.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n<p>Dreamed about a pepper five feet long, very very hot,<\/p>\n<p>and very strong, you can\u2019t go wrong, you\u2019ll be pika<\/p>\n<p>before too long, while you\u2019re at Pika Fest. <em>Biba<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>I was named Tinian Poet Laureate in 2018 by then-mayor Joey Patrick San Nicolas. J.P. San Nicolas and his wife, Connie Manglona San Nicolas, are both my former students. Current Mayor Edwin Aldan and his spouse, Rosita King Aldan, are also both my former students. I am very proud of all my students who serve and have served in the CNMI government, and Tinian Municipal Council, including Sen. Jude Hofschneider, Sen, Henry San Nicolas, Rep. Patrick San Nicolas, Municipal Council members Ann Marie Cruz San Nicolas, Steven P. Cabrera, Joseph Santos, and Patrick A. Manglona. I appreciate all the work they and <em>todu taotao<\/em> Tinian <em>familia<\/em> do to make Tinian a better place.
