{"id":406112,"date":"2024-02-06T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-02-06T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=406112"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Coast-Guard-searching-for-sailing-vessel-Malulani-navigating-from-LA-to-Hawaii","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Coast-Guard-searching-for-sailing-vessel-Malulani-navigating-from-LA-to-Hawaii\/","title":{"rendered":"Coast Guard searching for sailing vessel  Malulani navigating from LA to Hawaii"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>ALAMEDA, Calif.\u2014<\/strong>The U.S. Coast Guard is seeking the assistance of the maritime community in the search for 60-year-old Noel Rubio and the sailing boat <em>Malulani<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The vessel <em>Malulani<\/em> is a 32-foot Westsail sloop that departed Long Beach, California, Dec. 28 enroute to Kaneohe, O\u2019ahu, Hawaii, crewed by the 60-year-old Noel Rubio with a planned arrival date of Jan. 18.<\/p>\n<p>The Coast Guard is using all available means to determine the <em>Malulani<\/em>\u2018s location, including urgent marine information broadcasts and harbor checks in California, Hawaii, and Mexico. He last made contact via cellphone Dec. 28, from south of Catalina Island, California informing a friend that he was enroute to Hawaii.
