{"id":406375,"date":"2024-03-08T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-08T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=406375"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Kilili-announces-2024-NMI-Congressional-Art-Competition","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Kilili-announces-2024-NMI-Congressional-Art-Competition\/","title":{"rendered":"Kilili announces 2024 NMI Congressional Art Competition"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>WASHINGTON, D.C.\u2014<\/strong>Delegate Gregorio Kilili Camacho Sablan (D-MP) invites high school students in the Northern Mariana Islands to participate in the 16th Annual Congressional Art Competition for an opportunity to have their artwork publicly displayed at the U.S. Capitol for one year.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cThis is the 16th year that the Northern Mariana Islands will have one of our student\u2019s artwork showcased at the Capitol,\u201d Sablan said. \u201cI have seen some amazing artwork from our talented students over the years and I have no doubt that this year will be the same.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The art competition is free and open to all high school students. Students have until Friday, April 19, 2024, to submit their artwork via delivery or mail to one of the congressional district offices on Saipan, Rota, or Tinian, which are open Monday through Friday from 8am to 5pm.<\/p>\n<p>Congressional Art Competition rules require that submitted artwork be original, two-dimensional works. Eligible artwork includes paintings, drawings, collages, prints, mixed media art, computer-generated art, and photography. Artwork must also be suitable for public display.<\/p>\n<p>This year\u2019s submissions will be judged based on originality, technical difficulty, creativity, communication, effectiveness, and overall appearance. A panel of local artists will select the winning entry.<\/p>\n<p>Aside from having their work displayed in the Capitol, the winner will also be invited to the national reception held in Washington, DC.<\/p>\n<p>Contest guidelines and student release forms are available at <a href=\"https:\/\/sablan.house.gov\/serving-you\/art-competition\" target=\"_blank\">https:\/\/sablan.house.gov\/serving-you\/art-competition<\/a>.
