Camacho imposed a $10,000 cash bail on Augustin Blas Pangelinan Jr., who was arrested last week. Pangelinan appeared virtually from the Commonwealth Health Center. It was not immediately learned why he was at the hospital.

Pangelinan, 48, faces charges of violating an order for protection, assault, domestic violence, theft, vandalism, and disturbing the peace.

After his hearing, Pangelinan was remanded back to Department of Corrections’ custody. He was ordered to return to court on March 20 for a preliminary hearing while his arraignment was set for April 1.

According to court documents, DPS received a call last March 13 at around 2:23pm about a disturbing the peace incident at Te’s Fish Market in San Vicente.

Police officer Rachel Ogumoro met with the caller, Josephine Aguon, who told police that she called the police multiple times because her nephew, Pangelinan, had just harassed her daughter.

Aguon added that she was scared for her and her daughter’s life as Pangelinan had violated a restraining order. The restraining order, also issued by Camacho, had expired in December 2023.

Aguon’s daughter told Ogumoro that she was putting ice into one of the ice chests earlier that day when she heard a male voice yell a profanity at her. When she turned around, she saw Pangelinan’s car parked in the grassy area in front of Te’s Fish Market so she ran inside the fish market and locked the door.

The daughter told police that Pangelinan drove off but made a U-turn by a green colored sign and parked in front of the fish market again, rolled down his window, then started shouting for approximately two minutes before leaving.

Police learned that Pangelinan is one of the owners of Te’s Fish Market while Aguon, Pangelinan’s sister, is currently in charge of overseeing its daily operation.

Aguon had taken out a restraining order against Pangelinan pursuant to a family court case.

The CNMI Guma Hustisia or CNMI Judiciary in Susupe.

-KIMBERLY B.
