{"id":406841,"date":"2024-03-27T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-27T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=406841"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Spring-into-Easter","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Spring-into-Easter\/","title":{"rendered":"Spring into Easter"},"content":{"rendered":"<p> <img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" src=\"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/images\/imgupload\/b62f8efa6fd5c3d768ff935936507632.jpg\" width=\"480\" height=\"360\" \/><br \/>Spring<\/p>\n<p><h3>Vernal Equinox Diurnal Journal<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>On every island in the CNMI spring has sprung<\/p>\n<p>All year long through all four seasons it is strung<\/p>\n<p>We only have two seasons, one rainy and one dry<\/p>\n<p>Our location near the Equator is the reason why<\/p>\n<p>Tall grass, weeds, and wildflowers have their fling<\/p>\n<p>All year-round flowers bloom diurnal and nocturnal<\/p>\n<p>To fences, poles, and houses vines and flowers cling<\/p>\n<p>Seeds spread by winds and birds each a fertile kernel<\/p>\n<p>Orchids prosper and bloom outside in coconut shells<\/p>\n<p>Bougainvillea blooms cover neighborhood fences<\/p>\n<p>Gardenia flowers emit their powerful scented smells<\/p>\n<p>Hundreds of wildflowers amaze one\u2019s visual senses<\/p>\n<p>Our Mariana islands remain perpetually vernal<\/p>\n<p>Our beauty writes its own eternally green journal.<\/p>\n<p>Easter<\/p>\n<p><h3>Funny Easter Bunnies Lay Eggs Not Runny<\/h3>\n<\/p>\n<p>This sonnet is for the time when ladies wore colorful hats<\/p>\n<p>called Easter bonnets to their church on Easter Sunday.<\/p>\n<p>Straw baskets were filled with decorated colored hard boiled<\/p>\n<p>eggs, chocolate eggs, jellybeans, and chocolate rabbits:<\/p>\n<p>Chocolate rabbits are covered with multicolored foil<\/p>\n<p>What are those oval pastel things under their legs?<\/p>\n<p>They are the results of pots of water brought to a boil<\/p>\n<p>Colored and pastel decorated hard boiled chicken eggs.<\/p>\n<p>Since when do rabbits lay eggs that are not runny?<\/p>\n<p>Does a mother hen give birth to a little baby bunny?<\/p>\n<p>Of course eggs are classic symbols of birth and life<\/p>\n<p>Hard boiled they are eaten without a fork or knife<\/p>\n<p>No chocolate or hard candy for you in Lent you fasted<\/p>\n<p>As each little boy and girl in dreamy slumber sleeps<\/p>\n<p>the Easter egg hunt is over now a filled Easter basket<\/p>\n<p>with jellybeans, eggs, and yellow marshmallow peeps<\/p>\n<p>peel foil for chocolate, peel egg shells make egg salad<\/p>\n<p>sing about Easter bunnies and bonnets in an old ballad.<\/p>\n<p><\/p>\n<p>Joey aka &#8220;Pepe Batbon&#8221; Connolly is a retired educator who taught in the CNMI, NOLA, and LVNV.
