Former MRA president Charles Cepeda finished fourth with 36 points.

“Round 2 into the season was a blast. Had an epic battle against Corry Pangelinan in the second heat. He was pretty much on my wheel 90% of the race. One mistake and he could’ve taken the lead. I was able to keep my composure and hit my lines and after 10 laps right behind me he finally let off and I was able to get him off my tail. Corry is our two-time Intermediate Class champ and I’m so glad he’s in Expert Class now. He’s very fast and consistent and this year is going to be extra fun with him challenging me for the top spot,” said Alvarez.

The former mixed martial arts fighter said his performance in the March race more than made up for his February stint where he literally went home empty.

“Round 1 was really wet and muddy which made it very challenging to even get through the whole track on two wheels but definitely fun. I ended up running out of gas on the last lap on the last heat in Round 1. This time it was really dry and dusty so sometimes it could be hard to see with all the dust in the air and some spots were extra dry and slippery,” he said.

Alvarez again thanked his father, Justis “Cuki” Alvarez, for being in his corner all throughout last Sunday’s race.

“This win wouldn’t be possible without my dad for being my mechanic and No. 1 training partner on and off the track, and my trusty 2023 kx250f from Cycles Plus Guam. My dad is only racing the Veterans Class this year so that’s one competition I don’t have to worry about, but he could’ve helped me gain points if we were Top 2 each race too.”

In the Big Boy ATV, Christian “Hollywood” Camacho ruled the roost with his 50 points, followed by Greg Clark and Henry Camacho Sr. with 44 points and 40 points, respectively.

Shane “Pikaboo” Alvarez in action in the Expert Class of last Sunday’s race in the 2024 “MOTO IV” Points Race Series at the Cowtown Race Park.

-CONTRIBUTED PHOTO

Defending champion Shane “Pikaboo” Alvarez returned to form to win the Expert Class of last…

[5

post-406871","post","type-post","status-publish","format-standard","hentry","category-sports
["GET
