PSAW is a national, annual recognition week created to promote education on healthcare safety.<\/p>\n<p>Each year, GRMC\u2019s Quality Management and Patient Safety teams collaborate with clinical and non-clinical departments to provide training on current policies and procedures pertinent<\/p>\n<p>to patient safety.<\/p>\n<p>This year, GRMC is expanding its focus to include the Human Experience, encompassing the experiences of patients, employees, and the community. The Human Experience represents the totality of interactions influenced by our organization&#8217;s culture, which collectively shape patient perception throughout the continuum of care. Additionally, we are emphasizing Healthcare Equity, which entails ensuring fair and just opportunities for individuals to achieve their optimal level of health.<\/p>\n<p>During PSAW week, specialists from multiple departments will have presentation booths throughout the hospital, allowing employees to fulfill their required trainings. Featured healthcare safety topics will include:<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 National Patient<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Safety Goals<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Fall Prevention<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Suicide Prevention<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Medication Error Prevention<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Pressure Ulcer Prevention<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Hand Hygiene<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Time Out<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Labeling of Specimen<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Ergonomics<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Reporting of Work-related<\/p>\n<p>\u2022 Injuries<\/p>\n<p>GRMC Quality and Patient Safety specialist Michael Khan shared, &#8220;GRMC is proactively preventing harm from occurring.&#8221; He explained that the hospital has been consistent in this annual training since opening in 2015 to foster collaborative growth in the quality of GRMC&#8217;s patient care.
