{"id":407284,"date":"2024-03-08T14:00:00","date_gmt":"2024-03-08T14:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/?p=407284"},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-29T14:00:00","slug":"Over-150K-in-prizes-up-for-grabs-in-19th-NMC-Golf-Open","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.saipantribune.com\/index.php\/Over-150K-in-prizes-up-for-grabs-in-19th-NMC-Golf-Open\/","title":{"rendered":"Over $150K in prizes up for grabs in 19th NMC Golf Open"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Don\u2019t miss out on amazing prizes worth over $150,000 at the Northern Marianas College Foundation\u2019s 19th NMC Golf Open set for Saturday, March 23, and Sunday, March 24, at the LaoLao Bay Golf &amp; Resort.<\/p>\n<p>In a press conference held yesterday at the NMC Board of Regents Conference Room, NMC president Dr. Galvin Deleon Guerrero and NMC Foundation chair Vicente \u201cBen\u201d Babauta invited golfers to join in on the foundation\u2019s signature event. Currently there are local golfers as well as from Tinian and Rota, golfers from Guam, and golfers from South Korea.<\/p>\n<p>It\u2019s a two-day event with a fee of $250, inclusive of golf, banquet, beverages for both days, ditty bags, and other items.<\/p>\n<p>Play will take place on the East and West Courses of the LaoLao Bay Golf and Resort. The awards banquet will be during lunch after the last day of play at the LaoLao Bay Golf &amp; Resort\u2019s restaurant. The deadline to register is on Friday, March 22, at 12pm.<\/p>\n<p>There are six flights, with $800 for first-place winners in the Men&#8217;s Championship, A, B, C, Senior, and Ladies flights. Second-place finishers will receive $500, and third-place finishers will receive $300.<\/p>\n<p>Hole-in-one prizes are worth thousands of dollars, such as a brand new 2024 Lexus RX350 from Atkins Kroll Saipan, a brand new 2023 Honda Civic Type R from Joeten Motors, $10,000 shopping spree at Top Shelf Wine and Spirits, $10,000 from Ambyth Shipping and Seafix Inc., and $5,000 from Pacifica Insurance.<\/p>\n<p>Along with all these, there are also raffle prizes up for grabs.<\/p>\n<p>Currently, there are 83 sponsors and donors of the NMC Golf Open, and is open to any support from more companies.<\/p>\n<p>Babauta said of the tournament, \u201cThis is going to be the largest in Micronesia. We encourage golfers to participate\u2026 We are looking forward to a full field So far, we have a little over 150 players and looking forward to filling that in the next couple of weeks.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe are looking forward to a fabulous two-day event. It\u2019s going to be a beautiful day of golf outing. It\u2019s going to be a bit hot, but we\u2019ll hydrate a lot,\u201d said Babauta.<\/p>\n<p>The goal of the tournament, Babauta said, \u201cis to facilitate our fundraising efforts for the state-of-the-art campus and offices, and also workforce development for our community.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>Deleon Guerrero for his part said, \u201cThis is an exciting time for the college. We are in growth mode. We\u2019re launching new initiatives, but more importantly, we\u2019re launching new facilities.
