The University of Guam welcomes two new members of the UOG Board of Regents.<\/p>\n

Regent Joanna Chun and regent Christopher \u201cChris\u201d LC Duenas join the board with their respective private sector career insights.<\/p>\n

\u201cI am thankful and honored to serve the University of Guam and my Micronesian community in this way,\u201d Chun said. \u201cUOG plays a vital role in the continued growth and development of the people of this region, and our people\u2019s development is the throughline to Micronesia\u2019s successful present and future.\u201d<\/p>\n

Chun is the owner and principal advisor of Value-Based Coaching & Consulting.<\/p>\n

Before moving home to Guam in 2019, she spent 18 years with Northern California healthcare giant Sutter Health, advising and coaching leaders and teams in their operational excellence journeys.<\/p>\n

Chun earned her Master\u2019s in Business Operational Excellence at Ohio State University\u2019s Fisher College of Business in 2015 and Bachelor of Arts in English and Language Studies from San Francisco State University in 2004.<\/p>\n

UOG alumnus wants to give back<\/p>\n

Duenas is a proud UOG alum, having graduated in 2000 with a degree in Finance and Economics from the School of Business and Public Administration.<\/p>\n

He said he is passionate about giving back to the institution that gave him his professional start. Throughout his career, Duenas has leveraged his finance education to become a leader in the local financial management sector. He currently serves as the chief financial officer of Triple J Enterprises.<\/p>\n

He has broad experience in implementing cost-saving initiatives, managing risks, and improving profitability.<\/p>\n

\u201cI\u2019m eager to help guide the strategic direction of the university, and my personal experience as a beneficiary of public education in Guam will enable me to advocate for policies that provide opportunities for all students to thrive,\u201d Duenas said.<\/p>\n

He serves on the boards of the Rotary Club of Tumon Bay and the Guam Chamber of Commerce.<\/p>\n

The nine-member board\u2019s regents are appointed by the governor of Guam and confirmed by the Guam Legislature. They serve six-year, staggered terms.<\/p>\n

Sandra McKeever is the board chair, Lesley-Anne Leon Guerrero, vice chair, and Mike Naholowaa is the treasurer. The other regents are Agapito \u201cPete\u201d Diaz, Roland S. Certeza, Dr. Janice P. Malilay, DDS, and student regent Julie Laxamana. (PR)<\/em><\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
